dictionnary
English
Etymology
As a mistake of second-language speakers, primarily from French dictionnaire.
Noun
dictionnary (plural dictionnaries)
- Obsolete spelling of dictionary, now parsed as (non-native speakers' English) a misspelling of dictionary.
- 2002 May 16, Alexandre Fayolle, “sorted list vs dictionnary”, in comp.lang.python[2] (Usenet), retrieved 4 June 2022:
- I'd expect the first one to be faster, since the lookup of a key in a dictionnary is O(1), and insertion is a dictionnary is roughly O(1) too, whereas bisect_left is O(log(N)), and inserting in the middle of a list is O(N).
