egyre (not comparable)

1. continually, uninterruptedly, on and on, ever

   egyre csak azt hajtogatja, hogy… ― s/he keeps repeating that…

2. (chiefly with a comparative adjective or adverb) increasingly (more/less/…), more and more, less and less, …-er and …-er

   Napról napra egyre ügyesebb vagy! ― You’re more and more skillful day by day!

   Egyre kevésbé hiszek Jánosnak. ― I believe John less and less.

Since this adverb emphasises continuity, an ongoing process, it is not used with prefixed verbs whose prefix expresses the perfective aspect (something completed, concluded, achieved, or finished). By contrast, the possibility of inserting this adverb (or a synonym) in a sentence may indicate that the sentence has the imperfective aspect.
