Borrowed from French éventration, from éventrer (“to disembowel”).
Noun
eventration (plural eventrations)
- (medicine) A tumour containing a large portion of the abdominal viscera, caused by relaxation of the walls of the abdomen.
- (medicine) A large wound in the abdomen, through which the greater part of the intestines protrude.
- The act of disembowelling.
