From Proto-Albanian *awa-luga, possibly continuing Proto-Indo-European *lewg- (to break) or *lewgʰ- (to lie). Compare Gothic 𐌻𐌹𐌿𐌲𐌰𐌽 (liugan) and Old Church Slavonic лъгати (lŭgati).[1]
