Usage notes
While the term flugmaŝino literally mean "flying machine" and can refer to any man-made means of air travel, it is normally is used to mean an airplane, although the Esperanto word aviadilo is much more often used. (A search of the Esperanto version of Google conducted on October 28, 2008 yeilded 11,900 hits for flugmaŝino, 64,700 for aviadilo, 3,000 for "avio" and 68 for aerveturilo.)
