Inherited from Proto-Na-Dene *-ǰoq (“ear”). Compare Proto-Athabaskan *-džəx-əʔ (“outer ear”) and Eyak ǰǝhχ, ǰǝχ (“ear”). Distantly cognate with Ket огдэ (ɔ́gdɛ).
