gấy
Vietnamese
Alternative forms
- cấy (in North Central dialects less affected by lenition)
Etymology
North Central form with different path of diphthongization of mainstream gái.
As with nhôông (“husband”), originally just meant "man, male", gấy/cấy originally (and still) meant just "woman, female".
