gheară
Romanian
Alternative forms
Etymology
From *glara, possibly from German Kralle, following metathesis, or alternatively possibly a substratum word; another theory is that it perhaps derives from a hypothetical intermediate *înghiare, from a Vulgar Latin root *unglaris < *ungularis, from Latin ungula.[1]
