Etymology

Possibly from Proto-Albanian *gā̆gā̆-(ti-), from Proto-Indo-European *gheh₂-(gheh₂-) (to yawn, gape). Cognate to Ancient Greek χάσκω (kháskō, to yawn, gape) and Lithuanian gagù (to cackle). An onomatopoeic root from gogës-, as a verbal basis for further Albanian verbal formations.[1] The adjective is occasionally used as a nickname for Aromanians in Albanian.
