handwand (plural handwands)
- A hand-held wand for scanning or for reading an electronic tag.

- Readings were taken by passing the handwand either over the dorsal surface of the animal or running it over the surface of a bag holding it. It is necessary to alter the orientation of the handwand during this activity to detect the presence of a tag.
