- The term herpetological, generally used in the same sense that herpesian is here used, actually means “the study of reptiles and amphibians.” Although commonly used to mean “pertaining to reptiles and amphibians,” etymologically the word herpetological does not convey that idea.

- Where 26 species of amphibians were established for the county, with three others likely to be added, the comparable figures for reptiles stand now at 28 and three, respectively.
