Etymology

hillo (“jam / money”) +‎ tolppa (“post”); coined as a political term by Finns Party politician by Timo Soini in 2014,^[1] who later claimed the term comes from harness racing slang for a marker pole near the finish line, though some in the sport community have disputed this.^[2]
