Shona

Etymology

Uncertain, but potentially from a Khoe language (compare Khoekhoe gū-i), or from Proto-Bantu *ɪ̀ngú. Compare Sotho nku and Zulu imvu. Shona has a regular *nk>/h/ shift from Proto-Bantu[1].
