Usage notes
- Participles of phrasal verbs with ihop are sometimes instead written with hop, like hopsatt (“put together [state]”) instead of ihopsatt – from sätta ihop (“put together”). This is considered more proper by some, but both forms are common in the media.
- Hop is also commonly used in compound forms of phrasal verbs with ihop, like hopsätta vs. sätta ihop. Such compounds are uncommon in contemporary Swedish and perceived as formal.
- Hop is a bit more idiomatic than ihop in a few compounds, like hopbiten and hopsjunken.
