Etymology

Possibly a back-formation from tɤjpɣom (“ice”), which is cognate with Chinese 冰 (OC *pŋrɯŋ, “ice”).[1] Possibly cognate to Tangut 𗎈 (*ꞏwọ¹, “ice”) or 𘒓 (*par¹, “to congeal”).[2]
