     Aga siis sündis väga imelik asi, mis sünnib väga sagedasti ilmalikkude asjadega, kui jumalamehed oma käe nende külge pistavad: mida rohkem köster lepitas, seda rohkem mehed marru läksid, nagu oleksid isamaalised asjad omakasulised äriasjad või nagu oleksid nad ainult selleks jumalast maailma loodud, et üksteist isiklikult tõrvata ja haavata.

     But then a very strange thing happened, which happens very often in worldly affairs, when men of God put their hand into them: the more the pastor conciliated, the more the men became enraged, as if patriotic affairs were self-interested business affairs, or as if they had been created by God into the world only for this purpose to defame and hurt each other personally.
