Etymology
From Proto-Finnic *kaiho (“harm, damage, loss”), from Proto-Uralic *kajša-w (“sickness”).[1] Cognate with Estonian kahju, Ingrian kaiho, Karelian kaiho, Livonian ka’i, Võro kaih and Votic kaiho.
