Etymology

Borrowed from Balinese ᬓᭂᬭᬾᬦ᭄ (kerén, has a good appetite), of unknown origin.[1][2] Sense 2 is either an extension of sense 1, or borrowed from English current (i.e., "trendy"), possibly around the early 19th century when Batavia was under British rule; doublet of koran.[3]
