Etymology
From krok + ord + -ig. Literally, “crooked in his/her words”. Attested as krokorou by Jacob Nicolai Wilse in 1780 in his dictionary of Spydeberg dialect (with suffix -ou, otherwise spelled as -ug in older Nynorsk, now non-standard).
