leŵana

Tumbuka

Etymology

From -leŵa (to commit adultery)

Verb

-leŵana (infinitive kuleŵana)

  1. (reciprocal) to have sex.

Notes

Although the verb comes from the verb to commit adultery, Turner notes that this form of the verb (reciprocal) does not convey the adulterous side of its etymology.
