mixakanakw
Unami
Etymology
Possibly from mixekën (“fur”) + -akw (“tree”). Alternatively from Proto-Algonquian *a·kema·xkwa (“white ash”), but this leaves the initial mix- unexplained. Compare Unami pahkamakw (“black ash tree”). (This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.)
