mixakanakw

Unami

Etymology

Possibly from mixekën (fur) + -akw (tree). Alternatively from Proto-Algonquian *a·kema·xkwa (white ash), but this leaves the initial mix- unexplained. Compare Unami pahkamakw (black ash tree). (This etymology is missing or incomplete. Please add to it, or discuss it at the Etymology scriptorium.)

Noun
