Usage notes
Linguists agree that the terms moldāvu (or moldāviešu) valoda and rumāņu valoda refer to the same language; the distinction is ultimately motivated by the political circumstances between Romania and Moldova. The term moldāvu valoda is preferred, though moldāviešu valoda also occurs.
