  1. (psychiatry) A personality disorder characterized by an overinflated sense of self-importance (incl. subordination of other people's needs), sensitivity to criticism and difference in opinion and the denigration of others that are deemed lesser.
    People with narcissistic personality disorder usually have very low self-esteem and base all their self-worth on how much attention they receive.
