netull

Etymology
According to Lafe, most likely a borrowing from Proto-Slavic *metъla, whence also the Balkan Romance *metula.
It has also been proposed to derive from a Venetian *netola (an otherwise unevidenced derivative of netar “to clean”). This, however, would not account for the Balkan Romance and Slavic forms.
