Clipping of nguỵ quyền (“puppet government”, literally “fake regime”) and nguỵ binh ~ nguỵ quân (“puppet army”); as the Republic of Vietnam was considered and denounced as "fake", illegal, illegitimate, and a puppet of the US imperialists by Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam.
