Etymology

From Proto-Inuit *nuanniʁ- (enjoy oneself, pleasant, enjoyable), from Proto-Eskimo *nuna- (to enjoy oneself). Compare nuannerpoq (is nice), and nuannaarpoq (is pleased, enjoys oneself).

    • 1992, “Meeqqakka”, in Atuagagdliutit/Grønlandsposten:
      Angajulleq nukarlerlu takuneq ajorpakka, taamaatttummi[sic – meaning taamaattummi] nuannarisarinngilluinnarakkit.
      I cannot cope with seeing the oldest and youngest ones, because I really don't like them at all.
