oħt f (plural aħwa or ħut, masculine ħu)

   oħtok ― your sister

   oħt missieru ― his father’s sister, his paternal aunt

• The singular of this word is typically used only in the construct state, that is with a possessive suffix or with a following noun. As distinct from the word ħu (“brother”), there may be occasional exceptions to this restriction. The plural does not have it at all, but is equally the plural of ħu and thus means “siblings”. Meanings like “a sister” are usually paraphrased, e.g. waħda mill-aħwa (literally “one of the siblings”). For “he has a sister”, one says għandu oħtu (literally “he has his sister”).
