c. 400, Marcellus Empiricus, De medicamentis (in Latin), 7:13:Herba, quae Graece acte, Latine ebulum, Gallice odocos dicitur, exprimitur etiam cum suis granis, eiusque suco cotidie inlito pectine crines, qui inficiendi sunt, perducuntur.- The herb which is called in Greek ἀκτή (aktḗ), Latin ebulum, Gallic odocos, is pressed out with its grains, and in its sap one combs spoiled hair daily.
