on weg
Old English
Etymology
From Proto-Germanic *in *wegą (“on the/one's way”). Judging by Old High German in weg (“away, on the/one's way”), the sense "away" dates back at least to Proto-West Germanic. Note that the word in was replaced with on in the West Saxon dialect of Old English.
