Etymology

Reconstructed as pangku +‎ -an, from Javanese pangkon (ꦥꦁꦏꦺꦴꦤ꧀, virama, literally lap) and Balinese pangkon (literally lap), from Old Javanese paṅkwan, paṅkon (lap). Doublet of pangkuan.
