  • This noun is feminine when referring to a "relationship, relation", i.e. connection or association. In reference to a "relative, relation", i.e. a member of the same family, the word is masculine or feminine depending on the sex of the person referred to.
  • The plural is not generally used for the meaning "relationships", the singular being preferred.
