- Pitaoão são passarinhos do tamanho e côr dos canarios, e tem uma corôa branca na cabeça; fazem grandes ninhos nos mangues, ao longo dos rios salgados, onde põem dous ovos; e mantem-se dos peixinhos que alcançam por sua lança.
- “Pitaûã” are birds of the size and color of canaries, and have a white crown on the head; they make large nests in the mangroves, by the saltwater rivers, where they lay their eggs; and they feed on small fishes that they reach through their spear[?].]
