Old Norse
Etymology
From Proto-Germanic *wrangō, cognate with Old English wranga (“hold of ship”), Middle Low German wrange (“wale”). From the adjective *wrangaz (“twisted, wrong”). Alternatively, it is related, with Verner alternation, to rá, from Proto-Germanic *wranhō (“something crooked”).
