From Proto-Athabaskan *sə̓w̃ʼ ~ tsə̓w̃ʼ.[1] Cognate with Tsuut'ina sʊ́n, Chipewyan tθʊ́n, Beaver sə́n, Carrier sʊm, Sekani səm, Ahtna sonʼ, and possibly Ket qòʁ.
