- a tool for catching fish that is lowered into a well to get the fish out
- (mining) overshot: a fishing tool used in the oil and gas industry to retrieve lost or stuck equipment which is attached to tubing or drill pipe and lowered over the outside wall of pipe or sucker rods lost or stuck in the wellbore
