Borrowed from New Latin symbiosis, from Ancient Greek σῠμβῐ́ωσῐς (sŭmbĭ́ōsĭs, “a living together, companionship”), from συμβιόω (sumbióō, “to live together”), from συν- (sun-, “with”) + βῐ́ος (bĭ́os, “life”).
