Etymology

From a South Slavic language; compare Serbo-Croatian suditi (to judge, to trial), Old Church Slavonic сѫдити (sǫditi, to judge); ultimately from Proto-Slavic *sǫditi (to judge).[1] Borrowed later than the doublet sundoj.
