Etymology
Derived from sorna, cognate with Spanish and Portuguese sorna, the etymology of which is unknown. It seems to be a non-Catalan word in origin, given the lack of medieval documentation and the fact that it is not a usual word in the popular and archaic varieties; Yet the word sorneguer is so characteristic of Catalan, it seems to favor the catalanity of a hypothetical primitive sorna.
