soutpiel
Afrikaans
Etymology
sout (“salt”) + piel (“dick”). Military slang originally only applied to men of British origin, referring to figuratively having one foot in South Africa and another in Great Britain so as to have genitals dangling in the Atlantic Ocean. Like rooinek, the term carried an implied tone of mistrust and divided loyalty among British South Africans.
