Etymology

Inherited from Old Anatolian Turkish صُوغِیمَقْ (soġımaq), صُوغِمَقْ (soġımaq), from Proto-Turkic *sogï-.[1] Compare Turkish soğumak, Azerbaijani soyumaq. Nişanyan suggests it is highly probable, although not certain, that it is related to su.
