teppanyaki (countable and uncountable, plural teppanyakis)

1. A Japanese style of cooking in which thin slices of meat, or fish, seafood, vegetables and noodles are quickly fried on a hotplate.

In English (particularly American English), this mostly refers to cooking steak on a teppan (griddle), while in Japanese one instead mostly cooks お好み焼き (okonomiyaki) on such griddles.
