Etymology
Inherited from Proto-Albanian *ts-angulā, prefixed diminutive of Proto-Indo-European *h₂éngʷʰis (“snake”) (compare Latin anguis, Lithuanian angi̇̀s, Old High German angar (“kind of maggot”)).[1] Alternatiely, from Proto-Albanian *sengulā, diminutive of Proto-Indo-European *sengʰ- (“ant”) (compare Old Prussian sangis, Irish seangán, Central Kurdish ھەنگ (heng, “bee”)).[2]
