trans man (plural trans men)

  1. A transgender or transsexual man; a man who was assigned female at birth, that is, a person who was assigned female at birth, but has a male or primarily male gender identity.
  2. (derogatory, offensive, proscribed) A transgender or transsexual woman; a woman who was assigned male at birth.

Usage notes

Sense 2 is only used by people who deny that transgender people are the gender as which they identify, and thus is deemed offensive. Regarding the spelling (trans man or transman), see the usage notes for trans woman.
