Etymology
From Latin trecentōs, accusative case of trecentī. In modern Catalan, replaced by tres-cents (“three hundred”), a compound of tres (“three”) + cents (“hundreds”). Cf. the replacement of Old Catalan doents (“two hundred”) with modern dos-cents.
