  Tuyuyú é uma ave grande de altura de cinco palmos, tem as azas pretas, e papo vermelho, e o mais branco; tem o pescoço muito grande, e o bico de dous palmos de comprido: fazem os ninhos no chão, em montes muito altos, onde fazem grande ninho, em que põem dous ovos, cada um como um grande punho: mantem os filhos com peixe dos rios, o qual comem primeiro, e recozem-n'o no papo, e depois arreveçam-n'o, e repartem-n'o pelos filhos.
  “Tuîuîu” is a large, five-span-tall bird, it has black wings and a red crop, and the rest is white; its neck is very long and the beak is two spans long: they make their nests on the ground, in very high piles, where they make a large nest that they put two eggs in, each one [as big] as a big fist: they sustain their young from river fish, which they eat first, ruminate inside their crop and throw up, sharing with their young.
