zonnebloem

Dutch

Etymology

From zon +‎ -e- +‎ bloem. Named because the flower turns to keep facing the sun; compare English sunflower, Spanish girasol. The sense "50 guilder banknote" is derived from the large image of a sunflower found on such notes.
