Running JDK self extracting .bin file stuck with python subprocess

Question

I trying to run JDK self extracting .bin file via python subprocess,

Here is the code

proc = subprocess.Popen('./jdk-6u45-linux-i586.bin', cwd=installdir,shell=True, stdout=subprocess.PIPE)

it runs and stuck , output showing below:

the bin file is able to run independently in terminal

I turn on the shell debug by

Any idea about above issue , I guess some environment not pass into python , could not figure out what it is . as the bin can run directly ,but not through python subprocess

Please add some code what you are doing with the Popen object. Are you using the stdout-pipe in your python code? The subprocess will block if it is full. — Thomas Fenzl, Jun 25 '13 at 05:44
Thanks Thomas , you are right. I got poll() to print ouput , and when I remove it , works fine , not sure why it is block , any idea for printing standard output in this case . my code as below while proc.poll() is None: output = proc.stdout.readline() print output — yikaus, Jun 25 '13 at 10:14
