UnboundLocalError: local variable 'mp' referenced before assignment

Question

I get this error when testing:

I'm unsure about the reference thing because as you can see in my code, it is not referenced before.

I'm not sure what this is. Although I need to adjust the last the last function as I forgot about it trying to troubleshoot.

In your own words, the **first** time that `mp = mp + 1` runs, what should happen? What should the original value of `mp` be, and what should the new value be? **Why**? **Where** will that value come from? This should probably have been closed as a typo instead of as a duplicate. You have not defined mp yet, but you are already using it on the right hand side of the assignment. This raises the error. Easily fix it by:

mp = 0 # <- Add this line and change the 0 if you expect something different
if score[x] >= 1 and score[x] <= 3:
        mp = mp + 1
