I am trying to parse a json and its downloading some html instead of json content

Question

I am trying to parse json content from a website and its downloading some html file instead of json objects. Here is the code and error shown.(FYI I am parsing json and displaying that in the log cat)

This is MainActivity.java

When trying a POST on that url, I get the same error as you, but a GET returns:

So what you need to do is change the HttpPost into a HttpGet.

@srujanmaddula, the server simply does not allow POST requests: only GET requests. A POST (or PUT) is generally associated with changing a resource [on the server]. A GET is generally associated with retrieving information (which is what you're trying to do: retrieve a list of categories).
