Set a border around a StackPanel.

Question

Here's my XAML code:

                <TextBlock FontSize="14" Padding="0 0 8 0">
                    Search:
                </TextBlock>
                <TextBox x:Name="txtSearchTerm" Width="400" />

The border is set around the entire window. And also, when I create another StackPanel it's added to the right of my previous StackPanel instead of being added under it. What's the reason for this?

In desktop WPF app DockPanel does not exist for Border element :( Why is that? – uSeRnAmEhAhAhAhAhA Oct 06 '13 at 07:15
@uSeRnAmEhAhAhAhAhA `DockPanel` is an element in its own right that you add other elements into. It is not an *attribute* for `Border` because you won't be docking a border - it goes around an object, not docked against one, like how you can do ``, which effectively "docks" the StackPanel (section) against the top of the DockPanel (overarching container). – vapcguy Jul 19 '16 at 18:10

You set DockPanel.Dock="Top" to the StackPanel, but the StackPanel is not a child of the DockPanel... the Border is. Your docking property is being ignored.

If you move DockPanel.Dock="Top" to the Border instead, both of your problems will be fixed :)
